Susie Curry
Sometimes it's hard to believe that Susie Curry is really a veteran of the sport of fitness, having first competed way back in April, 1996! Think back to who was competing back then on either the IFBB Pro or NPC amateur level, and you'll find that none of the IFBB Pro Fitness competitors from that year are actively competing anymore. They've all retired competitively! There are a few pros now who were plying the platforms of the NPC at that time, but wouldn't earn their pro cards for two or more years after Susie. |

Warren Cuccurullo
So you've seen the cover blurb and are probably wondering what Warren Cuccurullo, guitarist of musical group Duran Duran has to do with bodybuilding or the NPC in general? The fact of the matter is, Warren Cuccurullo eschews the standard definition of a rock and roll guitarist in one of the world's most famous bands. When you get right down to it, he's a bona fide bodybuilder. No, not a competitive one, but a bodybuilder none the less. He's also a fan of the sport. Which is how we actually met. |
| Mary Yockey
Top IFBB Pro Fitness competitor Mary Yockey first burst on to the fitness scene in 1997 when she placed second to Minna Lessig at the NPC National Fitness Championships. Although the Nationals were only her second fitness contest, having won the 1997 NPC Colorado Fitness Championships to qualify, there were some pundits who felt she should have won the contest. She even garnered a few first place votes for her spectacular effort. Not bad though - two fitness contests and she's already a pro. |

Chris Cormier
IFBB Pro Chris Cormier first came to prominence in 1993, when he won the overall NPC USA Championships to earn his pro card and follow in the footsteps of such USA Champions as Flex Wheeler, Mike Matarazzo, who had just won the title the previous two years and were already enjoying the fruits of success in the IFBB. |

Flex Wheeler
At 33 years old, Ken "Flex" Wheeler has accomplished much in the sport of bodybuilding. When you mention the name Flex, everybody knows whom you are speaking of. He's the overall 1992 NPC USA Bodybuilding Champion, has won the IFBB Arnold Schwarzenegger Classic three times, plus numerous other IFBB pro titles. The only title to date that has alluded him is the coveted IFBB Mr. Olympia crown. He's been close a few times, placing second to both Dorian Yates and then this past year to new champion Ronnie Coleman. |

Monica Brant
With Monica Brant winning the 1998 IFBB Fitness Olympia, I thought it would be appropriate to go back to the initial interview I did with her right after the 1997 IFBB Fitness International. The premise of the interview back then was that although everybody in the industry has seen the numerous covers and pictorials Monica Brant was featured in, I didn't ever remember reading an in-depth interview with her. At the time, I thought we'd get the scoop on her before any other magazine, but that wasn't to be. Since the printed version of the NPC News is only bi-monthly, by the time we were printed, MuscleMag International had done a Star Profile on her that pretty much covered all the same ground as my interview. |

Ultimate Warrior
In August, 1998, the world of professional wrestling got a wake-up call in the form of The Warrior, when he made his presence known on TNT's WCW Monday Nitro. Yes, this was the same man who used to go by the name The Ultimate Warrior back in the glory days of the WWF from about 1988 to 1992. After 1992, The Ultimate Warrior disappeared off the professional wrestling map, albeit making one more very brief appearance in the WWF in 1996. Since then, his mystique has grown, as has the controversy of whether he's still alive or not. Well folks, he is. |
